November Christchurch Chapter Speaker Cafe.

How is your training game? In this special day training with our President Glen Sharkey, Glen will share his insights in his 29 years career as a training. The day will be fun and interactive with heaps of tools and tricks that Glen has picked up over the years. All attendees are to prepare 30 mins of adult training for the day for presentation and feedback. Glen has a truly unique, relaxed style which really connects his audiences and gives them clarity for focussed action. Check him out at

During this session, Glen Sharkey will cover;

  • Keeping the MAIN THING, the MAIN THING!! (being clear on the most important element of effective training)

  • Enjoying the ENJOYABLE and loving the CHALLENGE!! (“Gateway People” vs “Hostages”)

  • When it just seems SO easy!! (Making the most of teachable moments)

  • Selling the benefits rather than the features!! (what’s the 3?? What’s the 1??)

  • Start and end with a BANG!! (how to open and close effectively)

  • The POWER of the Workplace!! (on-site vs off-site training)

  • Putting the “ADULT” back into “ADULT Education”!! (RPL and LCL)

  • Ready, Set, ACTION!! (card sorts, reverse role plays, slide shows, whiteboard vs flipchart, trainertainment, music, pairs and triplets)

Sharkey will be practicing what he preaches with lots of interaction and ‘needs centred’ solutions. And it won’t be all him either- each attendee will be expected to bring along a slice (15-30mins depending on numbers) of their own facilitation work to demonstrate in order to receive feedback
